Originally released in 1954, this jean marked the first, and to this day the only 501 to feature a zipper fly instead of the classic button-up closure. At the time Levi’s was beginning to sell its signature work pant beyond the West Coast, and the zip fly was introduced as a familiar, practical alternative for new customers who weren’t used to a button fly.
Built on the original shrink-to-fit 501, it keeps the classic straight silhouette, rivet construction and tough 14 oz selvedge denim, with the added convenience of a zipper. A key chapter in the evolution of the 501, recreated as it was worn in the mid-century.
These are a shrink-to-fit denim and will shrink roughly two inches in the waist and length if washed.
